When we were visiting NYC, one of our friends took us to the Lincoln Center to hang out after dinner. We wandered over to see if the band was still playing for Midsummer Night's Swing but that part was over. If you go, you don't have to buy tickets to enjoy the show. The tickets just give you access to the dance floor closest to the band. (and the bands and DJs play a bunch of styles of music, not just swing) But even though we had missed the music, there was still the grass roof and fountain to enjoy.

I think B might've taken this shot. One of us did anyhow. The fountain would cycle through different patterns and lighting. I kept trying to get video of the water playing but never did manage to get a clip I was happy with. Still, a lot of neat photos at least.

Circling the fountain was a broad ledge where people hung out, chatting and watching the water.

B, watching the water.

A couple looking at someone's iphone. There's a free wi-fi hotspot at the Lincoln Center. Seemed like everywhere we looked in NYC, there was someone toting an iPad or iPhone or Kindle. New York seems like the perfect environment for such devices.

Here's that grass roof I was talking about. It's near the corner of 65th St. and Columbus Ave. They have lights up until midnight. We ended each day of the July 4 long weekend either lounging on the roof or sitting by the fountain. There's a cool aerial view of the building over here.

After one particularly hot and humid day, we went to the roof and were surprised to find that the grass was surprisingly cool and refreshing to lie on.

This post reminds me of the Carole King song that The Drifters did..."Up On the Roof." Cool place, in more ways than one. :D
