Are you here because you're wondering why I've added your LJ to my f-list? I do that some times, wandering around and looking for new journals to read. Please add me back and let me peek around. I cycle in and out of being active on LJ. I try to comment on your posts whenever I'm active. I sometimes go dormant and don't do much of anything on LJ for weeks and months at a time. But I'll be back. I tend to miss LJ whenever I'm away.

When I was a kid, I read about the Battle of Marathon wherein the vastly outnumbered Greek soldiers drove back the invading Persians. According to legend, Pheidippides then ran the 26 miles back to Athens to deliver the good news and then promptly dropped dead from exhaustion. After reading that, I thought, "I want to do that some day!" (run a marathon, not die at the end). A few decades later, after many stops and starts, I crossed the marathon off my list of things to do by running the 2005 NYC Marathon. Right now I'm trying to keep a running streak alive. At this point, I've run at least one mile a day, every day, since June 3, 2009. (That's over 4 years in a row!)

Running made me hungry all the time and my boyfriend M liked to cook. So we started cooking together more often and now this journal is mostly talking about food. I try to keep the Cookbook of Posted Recipes updated. (clicking on the food banner above will also take you to my online cookbook.)

I try to cook 50 New Recipes each year.

And sadly, my boyfriend/fiance, Michael, died of brain cancer several years ago. So be prepared for sad posts too.

I miss him but life keeps right on going.
